The Body
Bodywork
Structural Integration
For Dancers
You know what this work does to a body. The hours in heels, the pole, the desensitization, the smile you hold with your whole face. It settles into the hips, the pelvic floor, one side more than the other. You've been touched by people who make you cringe, who fetishize, who need things explained. I do this too. I'm one of you. I read your structure and I rebuild it, and I already know what put it there — because it's in my body too.

What Is Structural Integration?
Your body has a structure which is held in place by fascia. Fascia is a single organ that flows between all of your cells and works to keep you upright and allows you to move (or not). And wonderfully, fascia is malleable — with the right techniques, the manual therapy of Structural Integration (or just manual therapy) can move (better word?) this fascia to bring the body into a more comfortable and efficient structure. or techniques of manual therapy/fascial therapy/fascial tissue manipulation such as Structural Integration.
Some of the cells that fascia flows between (and supports) are neurons, embedded in muscle fibres. Because of this, fascial bodywork has a profound psychological component to your wellbeing. In opening the fascia to create a more coherent structure, your mind becomes more coherent too. See the image of the two skeletons — the person on the right would be much more alert, present, and integrated, than the person on the left (who would be confused, disoriented, or potentially depressed).
Because fascia is one continuous organ, issues related to it are usually body-wide. Complaints from poorly structured fascia include, but are not limited to: head forward posture, wrinkles, eye bags, headaches, and back pain. Dehydrated fascia is the number one sign of aging. Structural Integration is one of the best things to help you look and feel ~sexy~, for real.
My Experience
When I started dancing in Montreal, I questioned how the body worked and how I could improve my movement. I recalled the term “fascia” from a group I had met during my studies in University, and ordered a copy of Anatomy Trains as a blueprint to decoding the puzzle that is the body.
Since then, I have studied human anatomy in depth and learned the art of fascial manipulation from the greats, having been extensively mentored 1:1 in Montreal, and having continued my training with Anatomy Trains from Montreal all the way to Amsterdam.
This study has been an immediate application of my physics knowledge (is it even worth mentioning this?) and has extended dramatically/specifically into studies of the female anatomy, reproductive organs (?), and creative process as a bodily experience through my own experience and analysis of fascial unfolding as a woman. I’ve also received an extensive amount of bodywork myself, during training and outside of it, and have experienced the improvement in my dancing firsthand.

How It Works and What to Expect
Arrive with dance shorts and a sports bra to wear for the duration of the session. Please note that this is NOT a massage. Structural bodywork is not a comfortable experience — comfort is rewarded after each session, with the integration of the body’s structure and your experience of it.
Each session begins with my assessment of your structure, visually and mechanically. Then, I create an anatomical plan of which muscles to innervate, and work these tissues accordingly, by hand, on a table at my private studio in downtown Vancouver. Sessions are 90 minutes each.
Each session of structural bodywork is a technical process of manual therapy which unwinds a human being according to the fascial lines of the Anatomy Trains theory. We work in layers, superficial to deep, providing the psyche with only as much material as it can process in a week’s time. Following the body’s natural pattern trains the psyche to experience the body differently. A natural byproduct of our industry (and modern femininity in general) is that the body has a tendency to become desensitised to its surroundings in order to feel safe. Structural Integration works to unwind these unconscious patterns, using the body as a tool for psychological integration.
This work is intended to be built across multiple sessions, in “series”. Within a series, sessions are spaced at least one week apart, a requirement which allows the body time to integrate its new structure, hence the term, Structural Integration. This work has a compounding effect over time. A full series is 10-12 sessions, which I will offer starting July of 2027. While series are the traditional, and intended, route, single sessions are also excellent for muscle recovery and improved athletic performance. Please see the offers below.
Left to right: Superficial Front Line, Superficial Back Line, Lateral Line, Spiral Line, Deep Front Line.
Accredited to Tom Myers and Anatomy Trains Structural Integration.
1 Session
We stay superficial, doing an all-around full body tune-up. Hydrating tissues that have been locked in their position for a while. A quick restart and reboot for the body’s system. Emptying the trash.
Great for athleticism, agility, and performance/preventative pain.
$150
3-Series
Three sessions, with at least a week’s time between each.
First: Superficial Front Line — go up the front of the body to open the heart and stand straight. Eases tension off of the back and shoulders.
Second: Superficial Back Line — go down the back of the body to keep it all in place and release unnecessary stress.
Third: Deep Front Line — working closer to the structural core for long-lasting change. This is where we hold our emotions and patterns of self-perception.
Great for flexibility, lasting change, and feeling like a new woman.
$400
5-Series
For a five series we do the five fascial lines in the image above. Superficial Front Line, Superficial Back Line, Lateral Line, Spiral Line, and Deep Front Line, in that order. During the Lateral and Spiral lines we also intentionally integrate the arms. This is the most in-depth series I currently offer.
Great for walking around in a new, embodied world.
$700
